Testing PixelPipe with Posterous

Testing PixelPipe with Posterous Posterous Apps

The Polish wanderer returns

This was an image test using the PixelPipe iPhone app. With one upload, this image was sent to:

  • @facebook – and saved in the Mobile Uploads album
  • @twitpic – and twitpic sent a tweet out
  • @posterous – connecting using the API with full autopost to:
    • @flickr
    • @facebook
    • @twitter
    • @delicious
    • @blogger
    • @friendfeed
    • @youtube (if video)
  • @email – sent to my own address
  • @onlyposterous – this set as posterous@posterous.com to ensure no further autopost
  • @12seconds – if video

PixelPipe lets you decide which service to send to when uploading, so to avoid multiple tweets the trick is to only send the image to @facebook and @twitpic and @onlyposterous because twitpic will be the service sending the tweet. Obviously, it all depends where you ultimately want to channel any visitors.

When you add a new ‘destination’ in PixelPipe you can specify a posterous email address. This could be twitter+posterous@posterous.com or flickr+twitter@yourblogname.posterous.com if you have multiple Posterous blogs. You will need to specify the from address as your own email address and once you send your first post, Posterous will ask you to confirm the new sending platform in an email or in your control panel.

Confused? I am.

Came across your site looking for how to post to posterous from pixelpipe. But then I realized… couldn’t Posterous post to all those places you list? I thought the idea of Posterous was so that you could post one time to your site, and then autopost to everything else? What do we need Pixelpipe for?

Hi, there are a few times when I prefer pixelpipe. Uploading multiple high res video with upload status and resume and uploading multiple photos which need the geo meta intact as the Posterous app strips them. But in general I now just stick to using the new Posterous app for multiple photos (this is an old post)Cheers
