Mobile Broadband WiFi

I've seen it mentioned before, but today I have thought about the possibilities of getting Mobile Broadband WiFi ... and by that I mean, one of those 3G USB pens plugged into a WiFi Access Point/router.

OK, so what's so good about this ... for starters there is no bollocks installations on your laptop or any device you want to connect to the internet. There is sharing in your household for your laptop, desktop, PDA, PSP, Wii, Xbox, PS3, mobile phone through WiFi and there is the possibility to share this network out on the road ... Imagine having one of these in your car (or caravan) and pulling up on site or a remote field full of tents and offering WiFi internet for a fee. If the bandwidth is a worry, get two or three and bridge them.

Scammer alert: this lead me onto a train of thought about possible public WiFi scams ... pull up outside a shopping center ... change your SSID to PUBLIC WIFI and offer a custom DNS cloned signup page to capture credit card details or key log bank passwords ... I'm sure it's already being done right now .. SO BEWARE what public WiFi access points you log onto!

Update: It looks like the Three 3G router was originaly specified with a 950mAh battery ... http://tinyurl.com/5tkff3
