I’ve been wearing MBT shoes for over two years constantly (apart from when going to bed or swimming) and it’s about time I wrote a post about what they have done for me.
Firstly, you should know that both of my hips are cracked and have been since I was about 16years old, so the cushioning effect of the Masai Barefoot Technology instantly helped with pain relief from day one.
Secondly, walking in MBT’s activate muscles in your body that don’t usually get used when walking with solid flat shoes, so after the initial few days of aching, I noticed my legs and back getting stronger and this helped take the strain from my hips.
Thirdly, I believe they helped me to loose 44lbs of body weight, combined with a conscious ’no food after 9pm’ eating routine.
I’ve had the MBT shoes in the pic above resoled by a specialist once in the time I have had them and have a second pair of MBT’s for summer. In general I’m really impressed with how long they have lasted.
Standing and walking in MBTs help to:
- improve posture and gait
- improve balance and co-ordination
- activate neglected muscles (buttocks, thighs and abdominals)
- reduce stress on the back, hip, knee and ankle joints
- increase comfort during prolonged standing and walking
- significantly reduce shock at each step (heel strike)
- improve lower limb circulation
You can read all about MBT’s on their website.
I’m on the lookout for a replacement pair for the winter, they are not cheap but are worth their weight in gold…
