Experiencing Trappist Tripel

Experiencing Trappist Tripel
Once you start learning about beer – different brewing styles, regions, hops malts and everything in-between there start to appear recommended or well regarded breweries and brews that stand out above the rest. Trappist beer is brewed by Trappist Monks and is among some of the most famous styles available.

This is my first Westmalle Tripel (9.5%) which is said to be the founding beer of the Tripel style and by trying this tonight I have come to realise that the enjoyment and buzz from learning about beer is experiencing the multitude of styles for the first time.

Sharing this live with experienced ‘beer people’ on twitter gives a new dimension to the learning curve and as beer is more accessible (unlike wine or whisky) you don’t have to spend a fortune to sample some of the best that are available. I have had Trappist beer before, but only now after this Tripel I have come to fully appreciate the range of flavours. So do yourself a favour and go grab a Trappist beer and appreciate a taste of history.

I love Trappist beers. Probably my favorite style of all!
