Bottled Beers and Ales

When I went camping in the Yorkshire Dales and climbed and absailed Gordale Scar I got into Theakstons XB and Old Perculier with a group of others. This was my first experience away from the ‘lager’ world. Today, I still drink lager by the gallon, mostly cooking lager (Carling) but recently I have been visiting my local one man store ‘CUTLERS’ I say one man store, because Mr Cutler has been running it for as long as I can remember. Recently Mr Cutler passed away, a well respected man. I still visit the store to pick up my supply of bottled ales. All have such a different taste and need to be sampled. What I do know is that our glass recycling has risen and my cooking larger obsession has plummeted.

My friend Gary Foote is currently brewing his own Ale and has threatened to swap some with me for a Chili plant. The problem is Gary Foote lives in Cambridge and each time I try and secure some of his latest batch, I find that he has drunken it all! One day I will list all the quality ales (maybe not the Gary Foote variety) but until that day comes, I will continue to drink them and allow only the ‘recycling operative’ to know what is currently tickling my gullet.
